Belarusians offered to consolidate the provisions of the Great Patriotic War in the new Constitution. In particular, according to the text published on the portal of the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, the state intends to guard the “feat of the Belarusian people.”
“The state ensures the preservation of the historical truth and memory of the heroic feat of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War,” says an additional paragraph to Article 15 of the Constitution of Belarus.
In early December, the Chairman of the Upper Chamber of the Belarusian Parliament Natalia Kochanova was expressed about the importance of the norm. “For us, the Great Patriotic War and everything connected with it is holy. Memory about this war we saved in our hearts and our task to transfer it to the younger generation,” she said.
