SIDUCTION 2021.3 Distribution Release

Formed Project Release Siduction 2021.3 , developing a desktop-oriented Linux distribution, built on the Debian SID batch database (Unstable). Siduction is a forkite aptosid , separated in July 2011. The aptosid key difference was to use as a user environment of a newer version of KDE from the VT-KDE experimental repository. To download is offered KDE-based build (2.9 GB), XFCE (2.5 GB) and LXQT (2.5 GB) , as well as the minimalistic assembly of “Xorg” based on the FluxBox window (2 GB) and the “NOX” assembly (983 MB), supplied without a graphic environment and intended for users who wish to comply with their system. To log in to the Live session, use the login / password – “Siducer / Live”.

Main changes:

  • Due to the lack of developer time, the formation of assemblies with CINNAMON, LXDE and MATE desktops is stopped. The focus is now removed by KDE, LXQT, XFCE, XORG and NOX.
  • The packet base is synchronized with the Debian Unstable repository as of December 23. Updated versions of Linux 5.15.11 and SystemD 249.7 kernel. From desktops, KDE Plasma 5.23.4, LXQT 1.0 and XFCE 4.16 are offered.
  • Assemblies with all desktops for connecting to a wireless network by default are translated into using the IWD Demon instead of WPA_Supplicant. IWD can be used both separately and in a bundle with NetworkManager, SystemD-NetworkD and Connman. As an option, the possibility of returning WPA_SUPPLICANT.
  • In addition to Sudo, to execute commands on behalf of another user, the basic composition includes the doas , developing the OpenBSD project. In the new version for DOAS, the input auto pump has been added to Bash.
  • Following the changes in the Debian SID distribution, the distribution is translated into using the PipeWire multimedia server instead of Pulseaudio and Jack.
  • NCDU package is replaced by a faster GDU alternative.
  • Included Copyq Exchange Buffer Manager.
  • From delivery, a program for managing a collection of photographs of Digikam is deleted. As a reason, the package is too large – 130 MB.
