Putin explained non-interference in work of Central Bank

Russian President Vladimir Putin told that he would not interfere with the country’s central bank. He said about this during an annual press conference, broadcast was conducted on Youtube.

“The Central Bank conducts an independent policy, you may seem strange, but I do not interfere with the work of the Central Bank, but I appreciate it positively,” he stated. Speaking about threats from raising rates, the president mentioned height limit. “We need to ensure the growth of the world’s 3.4 percent in the near future,” he reminded. However, raising rates reduces these opportunities, the president added. “Overall, so far, I still found such a golden middle,” he said.

Earlier in December, the Central Bank raised the key bet on 1 percentage of up to 8.5 percent. This is the seventh in a row since March, raising the basic parameter of the monetary policy. The reason for him was the strengthening of inflation and inflation expectations.
