Japanese shipbuilding company Koa Sangyou lowered the first tanker in the world, which works on electric traction. Reports about it TASS.
The solemn ceremony was held on shipyard in Kagawa Prefecture. The ship “Asahi” is named after the company ASAHI Tanker, on the order of which was built.
The length of the tanker is 62 meters. The vessel is equipped with lithium-ion batteries with a total capacity of 3480 kilowatt and can overcome a distance of 150-180 kilometers, and for complete charging required about 10 hours. It is planned that from March 2022, the tanker will be used to refuel large transcanean courts in Tokyo Bay.
Earlier it was reported that the “Star” shipbuilding complex began the construction of the second tanker gas model of LNG class ARC 7. Court of this type are characterized by increased environmental safety – they use liquefied natural gas as the main fuel.
