Washington sees in import substitution and preferences for the goods and services of the internal production of Russia from the norms of the World Trade Organization (WTO), and therefore decided to work on the WTO response measures and interfere with Moscow in the development of this direction. This was stated by the US sales representative Catherine Tai, RIA Novosti reports.
“This report draws a picture of the ongoing waste of Russia from the fundamental principles of the World Trade Organization, such as non-discriminatory practices, more open trade, predictability, transparency and fair competition,” said Tha.
she added that violation of the norms and rules of the WTO, commitments to the organization puts US workers and entrepreneurs in economically less favorable conditions and deprives the possibilities of fair competition.
Tai also stated that the office of the sales representative will continue to work with like-minded partners and use WTO tools to attract Russia to answer for its behavior in a multilateral trading system.
Earlier in December, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared a decision in the country of almost all tasks of import substitution. Also, the Russian leader added that innovation is one of the most important areas of import substitution.
