The Senate adopted in the night of Wednesday, on Thursday, December 16, at first reading, a draft law on the protection of children, paving the way for its final adoption in early 2022. Members, who had adopted the text in First reading in July, and senators will meet on January 11 to try to find an agreement on a common version of the Joint Joint Committee.
In the hemicycle of the Senate dominated by the right opposition, several provisions of the text, carried by the Secretary of State for Children Adrien Taquet, have been expanded or clarified. With regard to young people, the Senate voted an amendment from the Government providing for a “systematic” accompaniment of young people from 18 to 21 years passed through social assistance to childhood (ASE).
