Mishoustin accused West in competition not by rules

Western countries use unscrupulous competition to keep dominant positions, the Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishoustin accused them, RIA Novosti reports them.

“Western partners are expanding protectionist measures, illegal unilateral sanctions,” he noted. Mishoustin also added that the coronavirus pandemic led to a decline in the key sectors of the global economy and an increase in unemployment. International value chains have been violated, the volume of trade and investment has decreased, he added.

Prime Minister also stressed that some states are trying not by the rules to use the “green” economy trends as a method of pressure to get competitive advantages in emerging markets. He explained that we are talking about additional taxes and administrative barriers in international trade.

Earlier, the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP), Gazprom Neft, NLMK and UC Rusal sent comments on carbon tax on imported goods to the EU. Russian business pointed out a number of problems of proposed regulation: a potential incompatibility with the rules of the World Trade Organization (WTO), unwillingness to recognize climate projects of foreign manufacturers and others.
