Dior publicly apologized for uglings of Asian women in new advertising

French Dior fashion house brought public apologies for a new advertising campaign with the participation of the Chinese woman who criticized brand buyers in the PRC. It is reported by the local newspaper South China Morning Post.

“We have deleted this work immediately after the appearance of criticism on the Internet. We highly appreciate the opinion of people, respect the feelings of the Chinese and strictly observe Chinese laws,” the company’s representatives in the official press release stressed. The author of the mentioned photograph Chen Meng (Chen Man) also expressed his regret for what happened.

The scandal, which is in question, began after the postcard is published specifically for the Dior catalog. It captures an Asian woman in a traditional suit with makeup in Smoky Eyes style and Lady Dior bag in her hands. According to buyers, the advertising image uroduces the appearance of Asian women, since the model in the photo had “terrible eyes and a gloomy face.”

Previously, network users saw in pants from the new collection Balenciaga insulting the whole race. We are talking about Trompe-L’oeil’s sports pants, which are decorated in an insertion on a belt, reminiscent of underwear: such a detail on clothes creates the illusion of lowered pants, which worn black representatives of the US hip-hop community in the 1990s. In this regard, buyers accused a luxury brand in cultural apronation.
