The main meaning for which the USA is introduced new sanctions against the Russian gas pipeline “Northern Stream-2” – to put pressure on Europe. This was stated by the member of the European Parliament Committee on International Affairs, a German deputy from the Alteration Party for Germany Maximilian Kra in a conversation with Izvestia.
“The USA provides pressure on some European and, above all, the German parties. It is not a secret for anyone that Washington fears the introduction of the pipeline,” he added. At the same time, the eurreptat did not explain the reason why the American authorities are afraid of the project.
Running the SP-2 gas pipeline will be possible only at the moment when the German regulator checks the updated documentation. After the appearance of messages about the suspension of certification, gas in Europe went up by 15 percent. However, the certification of the project never completed.
Moreover, on November 23, the US Department of Finance introduced sanctions against TransDRIA and Marlin vessel related to the “Nord Stream-2”.
