Earlier, the head of the laboratory of particularly dangerous infections of the Federal Research Center for Fundamental and Translation Medicine Alexander Chepurnov said that the recently discovered strain COVID-19, called “Omicron”, is very different from his Wuhan ancestor.

According to him, when studying the Omicron strain, scientists identified significant changes in many important sites forming an immunological portrait of coronavirus. This may indicate that such sites may remain “invisible” for antibodies that have been developed after illness or vaccinations.
