New Caledonia for third time remained in France

Citizens of New Caledonia during the referendum for the third time abandoned the idea of independence. This was told by President of France Emmanuel Macron in twitter .

“Residents of New Caledonia decided to stay in France. They decided freely,” the state leader emphasized. He noted that thanks to the selection of the country’s population, the fifth Republic became even more beautiful.

According to Macgron, a new stage begins in the history of New Caledonia. He concluded that the results of the referendum prove the commitment of citizens before the agreements reached.

New Caledonia is a special administrative-territorial education of France, located on the islands in the Pacific Ocean not far from Australia. About 175 thousand citizens live on its territory. According to the results of universal referenda 2018 and 2020, citizens of New Caledonia also refused independence.
