In Rennes, Lyon, Nîmes, Angers or Douai, the lawyers joined the rallies organized before the courts on the appeal of seventeen magistrates, clerks, officials of justice and lawyers. The unifying slogan for this day was as simple as effective: “more means for justice!” The mobilization has been at the height of the background movement triggered on 23 November by the alarm cry launched by young magistrates in a Tribune published by Le Monde.

Suffering at work, dehumanized justice, chain decisions, loss of sense of the mission, the evil evoked evils caused an unprecedented awareness. More than 60% of the country’s magistrates have been recognized in these words and signed the text. They were joined by more than 1,500 clerks, at the less protective status.

While magistrates do not have the right to strike, the Department of Justice asked the leaders of jurisdiction to identify those who expressed themselves on strike. According to some first appeal court presidents, the rate of strikers among headquarters’ magistrates (those who judge) would have been about a quarter. Never seen. This is the first time that the union trade union of magistrate (USM), the majority union, called for a strike alongside the judiciary’s union. Most of the criminal cases that had to go into hearing this Wednesday would have been returned to several weeks or months, except in the files with incarcerated persons.

The Minister’s “Autostatic Response” of the Minister

Manifestation of magistrates, clerks, justice officials and lawyers, Nice, Wednesday, December 15, 2021.

The press conference organized Monday by the Minister of Justice and his remarks on Wednesday morning at the Antenna de France Inter did not calm the spirits. While Eric Dupond-Moretti pleaded the current majority cause, highlighting the increase in the budget of the larger justice during the Quinquennium of Emmanuel Macron than during the ten years covered by the previous two majorities, C ‘ is the lack of means that brought the courts out of the courts.

Céline Parisot, President of the USM, sees in the words of the Minister “a technocratic response of self-satisfaction remotely”. If governments since 2017 “have done more” than the previous ones, she recognizes, “We share so far away that there is really no need to be satisfied.”

In the demonstration organized in Paris near the Ministry of Economy and Finance, young magistrates at the beginning of the career and senior classes of appeal and even the Court of Cassation rubbed with the staff. / p>
