UAE threatened United States by refusing to buy f-35 fighters

United Arab Emirates (UAE) threatened the United States to abandon the purchase of F-35 fighters, unmanned aircraft Reaper and other weapons. About it reports The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).

According to the publication, the reason for the doubts of the UAE on a transaction for several billion dollars served “burdensive” Washington security requirements for the protection of high-tech weapons from Chinese espionage. At the same time, there is no accurate understanding whether Abu Dhabi will refuse to buy or this diplomatic move before the visit of the UAE delegation in the United States.

“The government official of a relatively low level wrote a letter in which it was suggested that it was about tactics of negotiations before the meeting,” writes WSJ.

On November 20, the US intelligence community said that China secretly built a military facility on the territory of the port near Abu Dhabi. The administration of American president Joe Bayiden warned the UAE authorities that China’s military presence in the country can threaten the relationship between the two states.
