The Hyperworm Rocket Complex “Avangard” is not needed by Russia, since the latter and without it is able to take a breakthrough of the US missile defense system (Pro), writes 19FortyFive.
American edition assures that Russia has 486 strategic missiles capable of transferring 1.6 thousand nuclear warheads, while the United States has only 44 anti-missile systems Ground-Based Interceptor (GBI). In the publication “Avangard” is called redundant, since Russia may suppress the American system about and without it.
19FortyFive reveals a “true threat” of such a complex. First, the avant-garde rocket, equipped with a non-nuclear combat part, can be used as tactical weapons. Secondly, Russia actively arm airplanes, submarines and surface ships, thereby opening the Pandora drawer.
The publication assumes that the possible range of applications of individual hypersonic systems can be limited to 100 kilometers, which will allow them to be used as artillery.
In August, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu stated that the military department is going to increase the speed, range and accuracy of hypersonic missiles. He recalled that the Russian army is already equipped with hypersonic rocket complexes “Dagger”, “Avangard” missile complexes with a hypersonic controlled battle unit and laser complexes “Peresvet”.
