Russia abandoned the dollar in calculations on weapon transactions, since the use of national currencies reduces the risks of delay in payments. The head of Rosoboronexport said, Alexander Mikheev, reports Interfax.
“By tradition, we are all transactions in dollars for the convenience of counting. In the real work of Rosoboronexport, almost 100 percent departed from the calculation in American currency,” he said. For example, the calculations of the Russian Federation with India for the sale of weapons go in rubles and rupees.
In 2020, sales of Russian weapons fell by 6.5 percent compared with 2019, from $ 28.2 billion to 26.4 billion. This indicator decreases the third year in a row, and for the last period, Russian companies showed one of the sharpest falls among all market participants.
Sales of the Almaz-Antey concern were collapsed by 31 percent, the United Shipbuilding Corporation (OSK) – by 11 percent. At the same time, the combined aircraft enterprise (UAC) increased the supply by 16 percent. Pitch sales of domestic weapons was 2017, when suppliers from Russia accounted for five percent of the global market.
