Prices for caviar in Russia soared to a historic maximum

Last October, the average cost of salmon caviar in Russia for the first time exceeded the mark of 5 thousand rubles per kilogram and reached a historic maximum, RBC reports with reference to Rosstat data. Prices for this product first demonstrated such an indicator in the entire history of observations since 2000.

For 20 years, the caviar took off in price of 7.4 times: in October 2000, one kilogram of the product was worth 675.2 rubles in retail. At the same time on the eve of the New Year, the goods went up by about 30 percent compared with 2020. Prices and red fish rose: the cost of one kilogram of salmon fish in chilled and ice cream has increased in October 2021 compared with last year by 16 percent – from 726.9 to 845.3 rubles.

in Rosstat stressed that the caviar in retail continuously becomes more expensive since the beginning of 2020. The continued rise in prices for a product in Rosrybolovyia was tied up with a hype, which creates speculators on the eve of the New Year holidays. At this time, speculators implement the remains of caviar in warehouses and put buyers to delust the number of goods. In the department assured that there will be no deficit of salmon caviar.

Previously, Russians warned about a sharp rise in price of sweets for the new year. Thus, the producer of candy and chocolate “Acron” warned trading networks on price increases on their products by 5-20 percent from December 1.
