Meta has created a glove for virtual reality

Meta Company (former name Facebook) demonstrated a prototype of gloves to work in virtual reality. This is reported by Edition The Verge.

Device was developed by the Meta Reality Labs division, the company’s engineers worked on the prototype over the past seven years. The device shown is a glove that can imitate the touch of the user to the subjects. On the inside of the gadget there are 15 ribbed inflatable pads that create the necessary pressure on the fingers of the user. Movement of gloves in space and finger bending analyzes sensors.

Depending on the situation, the complex system delivers air into a certain part of the glove. The user has a feeling that he really concerns certain items. Currently, the invention is quite cumbersome and needs to be physically connected to the computer. In Reality Labs are going to make a glove on autonomous and easy.

Chapter Reality Labs Michael Abrash (Michael Abrash) described possible options for using gloves on the example of a dog that the user strokes. The specialist noted that physically carrier of the VR glove will receive a little different experience: “However, emotionally and empirically it will be felt as something real.”

At the end of October, the head of Facebook Mar Zuckerberg announced the change of the name of the company on Meta. Also, the entrepreneur announced the creation of a “metavlane”, to which users will connect in VR (Virtual) or Ar (Augmented Realities) modes.
