On the Eastern Cosmodrome delivered an overclocking unit “Frigate”, designed to launch the Russian automatic interplanetary station “Luna-25”. It was transported by aviation transport and arrived on the territory of the cosmodrome on the night from 9 to 10 November 2021. On Thursday, November 11, in the installation and test case of spacecraft, operations were started to drive acceleration block and its transfer to storage mode.
Overclocking block “Frigate” Production of the SA Science and Production Association Lavochkina (part of the state corporation “Roskosmos”) is used as part of medium-class carrier missiles and ensures effective implementation of all tasks to remove one or more spacecraft on working orbits or flying from the land of the trajectory. The entire removal process is carried out autonomously, without interference from the ground.
Space project “Luna-25” is created using the latest achievements in the field of space instrumentation and taking into account the experience of previous lunar expeditions of NPO Lavochkina. The main task of the mission is to test the basic technologies of a soft landing in the okolopolar area and carrying out contact research of the southern pole of the moon.
