Banks sharply reduced issuance of loans to Russians

Banks in October issued 1.8 million loans to Russians by 564.4 billion rubles, which is 8.7 and 10.64 percent, respectively less than the indicators of September. This is reported by analysts FRANK RG, report “Vedomosti”.

is the greatest decline from January this year. With the exception of a seasonal downturn, characteristic of this winter month, there was no such sharp reduction in the monthly expression since April last year, when Lokdaun began in Russia. In annual expression, unsecured lending is still growing, but the pace slowed down – up to 20.6 percent in October versus 30.2 percent in September.

The average cash loan check fell by 2.12 percent in a monthly and 1.53 percent in annual terms, amounting to 314 thousand rubles (at least from May 2020). Such indicators may be associated with increasing incidence of coronavirus, as well as new restrictions on the part of the Central Bank.

Earlier, the Central Bank limited the Russians the opportunity to buy goods in installments. The regulator sent to banks and microfinance organizations (MFIs) a letter in which they are not recommended not to participate in such schemes without registration of a consumer loan or loan agreement.

In late October, the State Duma took in the first reading the bill, giving the Central Bank the right to limit the issuance of consumer loans by banks and microfinance organizations.
