Russian Foreign Ministry called on Taliban to strengthen security in Afghanistan

The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia Maria Zakharov on behalf of the Kremlin called on the Taliban movement (terrorist movement, prohibited in Russia), who seized power in Afghanistan, strengthen security measures in the country. The appeal is associated with the terrorist attack in the largest Shiite Mosque Bibi Fatima in the Afghan province of Kandahar. It is reported by RIA Novosti.

In connection with the occurrence of Zakharov, he expressed condolences to the people of Afghanistan, the families of the victims and wounded on behalf of the Russian side. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that they are hoping for an ambulance and “harsh punishment” guilty of “inhuman terrorist act”.

The terrorist attack near the Bibi Fatima mosque occurred on October 15. A suicide bomb made a self-supersonunciation during Friday prayer, when a large number of parishioners gathered in the mosque. As a result, 32 people were killed, another 53 were injured.

Commenting on what happened, the head of the third Department of the CIS Foreign Ministry of Russia, Alexander Sternik, said that the Taliban began to lose their anti-terrorist potential.
