Lithuania expressed a protest of Belarus due to violations on border

The Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs presented a protest note by the Belarusian Consul due to regular disorders at the border of the two countries. It is reported by the press service of the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry.

According to the Office, on Monday, October 18, in the Varensky Border County, the Belarusian military illegally switched to the border line and penetrate the territory of Lithuania for several meters. In connection with the incident, Vilnius expressed a protest and asked the Belarusian side to immediately explain the actions of the border guard, as well as take measures to curb such violations.

In addition, the Foreign Ministry condemned the efforts of the Belarusian authorities to aggravate the migration crisis in the countries of the European Union (EU) and ongoing repressions against civil society.

The migration crisis at the borders of Belarus and the European Union began at the end of May. Large groups of illegal migrants from Africa and the Middle East began to storm the borders of Lithuania, Poland and Latvia in the hope of obtaining refuge in the European Union.

In the current situation, the EU accused Minsk and Personally President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko. It is assumed that the Belarusian authorities use their national tour operator “Centerkurort” to cross the migrants to the EU borders and earn it.
