Russia catastrophically stopped grabbing paper

In the paper market of Russia, there was a catastrophic situation due to the unprecedented increase in prices in the current year. This is stated in a letter of the Union of Printed Industry Enterprises (SPP), which was sent to the head of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce Denis Mantourova on November 1, reports Kommersant.

According to the authors of the appeal, the cooled paper has risen in price by 18 percent, and cardboard is 30 percent. At the same time, market participants do not believe that in the near future the rise in prices will stop.

The reason that the paper literally stopped grabbing, the policy of manufacturers is named. Due to increased demand, they go to the production of wrapping paper for Chinese and Indian enterprises. For example, the Solikamsky pulp and paper plant operates on the domestic market only two days a month.

In the organization asked the Office to collect a meeting with manufacturers, printing and publishers to discuss the stabilization of the situation. The representative of the Ministry of Industry and Commission concluded that such a discussion will take place.

The contradiction between enterprises and paper publications is systemic. The latter believe that the government should subsidize paper loans that publishers need, but the production of which is unprofitable to enterprises. Executive Director of SPPI Pavel Miroshnikov explains that otherwise there is nothing to print even social products.

In turn, the timber industry is confident that the situation must adjust the market, and its constant appeals to the government only aggravate. As the source noted in the industry, if the publishers are not ready for the market, they need to be closed.

Rising prices on the Russian market coincides with world trends. By the middle of this year, the cost of waste paper in the world has grown more than one and a half times. In Russia, the packaging cardboard is also a time to rise in price by 35-50 percent depending on the manufacturer. Market participants remind that the demand for packaging has grown sharply due to a pandemic – after all, the sale of goods online, requiring packaging, increased markedly.

in June on a lack and rise in price of paper, which leads to an increase in prices for products, Russian books publishers complained. They indicated that the reason was the rise in prices for the waste paper more than twice.
