EU refused to relieve Russian gas supplies to Moldova

The European Union (EU) will not finance the purchase of Moldova Gazprom. The Supreme Representative of the EU on Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrel stated at a joint briefing with Moldova Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilitsa, writes Telegram-channel “Sputnik Moldova”.

He stressed that the grant that the European Union promised to allocate Moldova, is intended to assist the vulnerable segments of the country’s population, and not to ensure the supply of Russian gas.

Borrel explained that the EU will not sponsor the difference between the fuel price from its own funds, which I requested “Gazprom”, and the amount that Chisinau is willing to pay. At the same time, the diplomat stressed that the European Union does not intend to interfere in negotiations between Moldova and the Russian company.

Before that, Moldova appealed to the European Union asking for the extraordinary supply of natural gas because of its shortage.
