55 years of aviation search and rescue service

Aviation search and rescue service – a special service designed to organize the search and rescue of crews and passengers of aircraft, victims of disaster, assisting in emergency situations of ship crews (ships) in the waters of the seas and oceans.

It may also be formed by the search and evacuation of astronauts and descent spacecraft, performing search and rescue work during natural disasters. It was formed 55 years ago, October 10, 1966, in the Air Force.

In the Russian Federation, the UPS efforts of various companies are combined into a single aviation-space search system and rescue, whose leadership has been carried out by the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya).
