Studies of the international team of scientists have shown that the consequence of infection with a coronavirus infection may be the emergence of Guien syndrome – Barre. The dangerous consequence of COVID-19 is named in the article by scientists published in the magazine Brain.
C The beginning of the coronavirus pandemic became known more than 90 cases of development in the infected COVID-19 hyena-barre syndrome, autoimmune disorder, in which the immune system attacks the nerves of man, which leads to muscle weakness, and in some cases to paralysis. However, it remained unknown, is it a coincidence or is there really a disease leads to syndrome.
Researchers analyzed the data on the health of 49 patients from European countries and China, who from January to May 2020 were diagnosed by Guien Syndrome – Barre. 22 percent of them before its development were crowning infection. All of them were over 50 years old, they often had a facial nerve paralysis and a heavy form of syndrome, at which they could not even walk on their own. At hospitalization, 73 percent of them discovered increased inflammation.
At the same time, researchers note that in the first four months of the pandemic, the number of cases of Guien syndrome – Barre compared with the same segment in previous years did not increase. Thus, despite the fact that the contamination of COVID-19 can lead to the development of the syndrome, the strong association between two diseases is unlikely, the researchers conclude.
