Roscosmos continues monitoring emergency on planet 24 September

The operator of Russian space means of remote sensing of the land of the State Corporation Roscosmos continues operational monitoring of emergency situations around the world by means of the Russian orbital grouping. As part of the commission of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Roscosmos State Corporation organized 24-hour operational monitoring of the flood and fire hazardous situation, as well as other natural and man-made disasters.

From September 16 to September 23, 2021, the following emergencies were monitored at the requests of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia:

  • Threat of flooding in the DFO of the Russian Federation;
  • flooding in the Republic of Buryatia;
  • Flood in the Khabarovsk Territory;
  • Forest Forest furnishings in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia);
  • Flood furnishings in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia);
  • Hydrological situation in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia);
  • Search for an aircraft in Khabarovsk Territory.

As part of the activities of the International Charter on Space and major catastrophes, the following emergencies were monitored:

  • Flood in the Togolez Republic;
  • Flood in Sudan;
  • Earthquake consequences in the PRC.

Based on media reports on natural and man-made catastrophes around the world, the space survey of the following events was planned:

  • Monitoring of flooding in France;
  • Monitoring of eruption of volcanic Cumbre Vieja in Spain.

During the reporting period, Russian data of the remote sensing of the Earth in the amount of about 391 thousand square kilometers was transferred to the EMERCOM of Russia. In turn, data in the amount of about 73 thousand square kilometers were transferred to the International Charter on Space and large catastrophes.

In the framework of monitoring a fire hazardous situation in the territory of the Russian Federation in the FBU “Avialesookhran”, the received Russian DZZ data in the amount of about 15 thousand square kilometers were transferred in the amount of about 15 thousand square kilometers. In addition, as part of the monitoring of the flood and fire hazardous situation in the territory of the Russian Federation, representatives of regional authorities have been transferred to Russian data of space shooting in the volume of 317 thousand square kilometers.

Roscosmos State Corporation supports prompt interaction with the EMERCOM of Russia for timely response to the occurrence of a flood and fire-hazardous situation and the implementation of space monitoring of the affected territories.
