US: first discovered COVID-19 in deer

The US Department of Agriculture announced that the world’s first COVID-19 infection in deer was recorded in the world. It is reported by RIA Novosti.

In the Inspectorate of Animal Health and Plants, the Ministry of Agriculture said that Coronavirus was discovered in wild white-tailed deer in the state of Ohio. It is noted that cases of COVID-19 were registered in the world only among a small number of animal species, mainly among those who contact people. The ministry emphasizes that, based on available information, the risk of transmission of virus from deer to people is low.

Earlier it was reported that Asian Oceanarium Otters in the city of Atlanta in the US state of Georgia became infected with COVID-19. There is a suspicion that the otters could become infected from the employee who had a new coronavirus infection asymptomatic.
