FAS accused of growing prices for vegetables “Magnit” and “Pyaterochka”

Ryazan Office of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) accused Trade Networks “Magnit” (JSC “Tander”) and “Pyaterochka” (Agrotorg LLC) in prices of prices for vegetables such as potatoes, onions, cabbage and carrots. This is reported on the site FAS Russia.

The Federal Office in August instructed to check the validity of the rise in price of socially significant goods. The study of prices in the Ryazan region showed that in the summer of 2021, the above largest trading networks of the region established a margin for the goods of the fruit and vegetable group in the amount of 50 percent to procurement prices, sometimes it reached 100 percent.

Antimonopoly business is initiated. If the violation of antitrust law is confirmed, the companies are threatened with fines on Article 14.31 of the Administrative Code (abuse of the dominant position in the commodity market). Checks on the subject of anti-competitive collusion are carried out throughout Russia with respect to retail chains “Pyaterochka”, “Crossroads”, “Carousel”, “Ribbon” and “Magnit”.

Before the start of checks in the FAS indicated that the conclusions about the presence of violations will be done after the completion of the raids and the analysis of all information received. Also, the representative of the department recalled that the turnover of the audited organizations at the end of 2020 exceeded 4 trillion rubles. The size of the fine for the unreasonable price increase can be up to 15 percent of the annual revenue.

Three weeks ago it became known that antimonopolyers intend to prepare a bill, regulating margins for products. The purpose of the document is called “raising transparency” in the issue of pricing.
