Former head of the Austrian oil and gas company OMV Rainer Zele spoke about the possibility of saving on the construction of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline. He stated this in an interview with “Vedomosti”.

Zel, answering the question why the company has invested in the project only 729 million euros from the full possible amount of 950 million, explained that during the cost of “Northern Stream-2” managed to reduce. He added that the Executive Director of Nord Stream 2 AG Mattias Varnig and his team worked very well and saved during construction. “Not always everyone should be expensive. Maybe sometimes and cheaper,” he concluded.

In addition, the former head of OMV added that when planning a project, a forecast of works is drawn up, and a certain buffer is laid, unforeseen expenses.

Earlier, Zel stated that the construction of the North Stream-2 gas pipeline will end in the coming days. “The Executive Director of Nord Stream 2 AG Mattias Varnig said unequivocally that the work on the laying this week will be completed,” said Selice a few days before departing from the post. The manager expressed confidence that the first gas supplies on the Northern Plow-2 will begin this year.
