The head of Roskosmos Dmitry Rogozin showed Vladimir Putin to President Vladimir Putin, the layout of the Russian cosmic nuclear tug “Zeus” on the eastern cosmodrome, from where his launch is scheduled in 2030. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
As President Rogozin told, the transport and energy module, developed jointly with the Rosatom, will be removed to a height of at least 800 kilometers – the safest to turn on the nuclear reactor. “Space nuclear power is the only real opportunity today to move instead of chemical engines as an interplanetary tug,” said the head of Roscosmos.
Zeus layout was presented at the International Aviation and Space Salon (MAKS-2021) in July 2021. It is created for flights to the planets of the solar system and can get a laser weapon capable of incident to the enemy satellites. The creation of nuclear tug elements is conducted in Russia since 2010.
