In 2021, Russia wanted to bypass Switzerland and become one of the world’s best chocolate suppliers, stated in the Association of Enterprises of the Confectionery Industry “ACCON”. The forecast was made on the basis of the materials of the Federal Center for the Development of Exports of the Agro-industrial Complex (FGBU “Agroexport”) in the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, RIA Novosti reports.
“Russia can rise from 11th place and, overtaking Switzerland, for the first time to enter the top ten of the world’s leading suppliers of chocolate,” – emphasized in the materials.
Over the past five years, the supply of chocolate confectionery has grown twice. So, in 2020, Russia put more than 300 thousand tons of these sweets, so she has chances of entering the top 10 exporters.
ASConda Executive Director Vyacheslav Lashmankin said that for seven months of 2021, exports exceeded the indicators not only 2020, but also 2019. Now Russia is the leader of chocolate suppliers to China.
“Domestic production and export of confectionery, including chocolate, is one example of how the industry, using imported raw materials, was able to ensure the production and export of branded products of a higher redistribution,” said “Agroexport”.
Earlier, Europe was warned of a shortage of coffee and chocolate. Such a forecast is associated with the threat of climate change and drought in product producers.
