Revelation about unusual intervention of Merkel to election campaign in Germany

German chancellor Angela Merkel decided to personally support the candidate from his party, the Christian-Democratic Union, Armina Lasheta and criticized his main rival at the upcoming elections, the leader of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SDPG) Olaf Scholz. Reports about it Bloomberg.

As notes the publication, such a direct intervention in the election campaign from Merkel looks unusual, even despite the fact that less than three weeks left before the elections.

On Tuesday, September 7, Merkel performed in the Bundestag with his last official speech, during which he stated that the government headed by the eaves and XDS would be the best choice for Germany. “His government will play for stability, reliability and restraint,” she said, emphasizing that it is of great importance, who exactly controls the country.

At the same time, the acting chancellor criticized the latest statements by Scholz. In particular, the politician condemned the words of the leader of the SDPG on the possibility of creating a coalition between his party and the anti-capitalist led parties. In addition, Merkel negatively appreciated Scholz’s statements that the campaign for vaccination against coronavirus in Germany is “experimental”.

Earlier, on September 5, Merkel also acted as supported by Lasheta. During a press conference in the city of Hagen, she stated that the current leader of the XDS would be able to successfully manage the new government. According to politics, the one who heads such a federal land as North Rhine – Westphalia will be able to lead all Germany as Chancellor.

As Bloomberg writes, such a revitalization of Merkel’s efforts to support its official successor is connected with its desire to improve its position before the election day against the background of the fall of the Lasheta rating and the simultaneous growth of Scholts.

Earlier it was reported that according to the results of the social supports conducted at the end of August, three parties – XDS, SDPG and Union 90 / Green – enjoy the most equal support of the population. At the same time, if the Scholts party was able to increase its popularity in recent months, the political force of Lasheta, on the contrary, was supported by the support of the part of the voters. In addition, it was Scholts that most of the German resident would like to see the chancellor, testify the results of surveys.

Parliamentary elections in Germany will be held on September 26. According to the results of the voting, the country will form a new government led by Chancellor. Merkel refused to nominate his candidacy in future elections.
