Russian “Torpeda Apocalypse” – Nuclear underwater drone “Poseidon” – changes the idea of a nuclear threat, because it is a new category of strategic weapons, says the Norwegian edition of Resett.
The publication says that Russia plans to use a nuclear drone at a great depth, where the latter will be able to develop a rather high speed. The publication recalls that maternal submarines will be engaged in the transportation and deployment of “Poseidonov”, the first of which will become Belgorod and Khabarovsk submarines. According to Resett, four submarines are planned for nuclear drones.
In August, USNI News News wrote that in a picture from Space Maxar Technologies, demonstrating the Oceanographic research vessel “Academician Alexandrov” in Severodvinsk (Arkhangelsk Region), it is possible to consider the product, on dimensions resembling nuclear underwater drone “Poseidon”.
On the development of the strategic drone “Poseidon”, able to transfer nuclear warheads, for the first time officially announced Russian President Vladimir Putin during the Message to the Federal Assembly in March 2018. It was noted that the underwater apparatus will be equipped with an innovative nuclear power plant and is a weapon of mass lesion capable of destroying targets on water and on the shore.
