Researchers from the United States and Japan have shown that the form of the form of asteroids of Benno and the RUGU is explained by the nanos of particles. The article of scientists has been published in the magazine Granular Matter.
The near-earth asteroids Benno and Rühu are “piles of rubble” – conglomeration of fragments, held together with their own attraction. However, their form remains for scholars. Modern models do not explain it – asteroids are observed to the equator, and not diamond-like, as in reality.
Researchers from the Okinawan Institute of Science and Technologies and the University of Ratgers offered a new model of Benno and Ruha formation, which also takes into account the malfunction of small particles. The centrifugal forces caused by the asteroid rotation are reduced near his poles, which leads to the accumulation of rocks there and gives them a characteristic election. The simulation scientists confirmed the predictions of their model.
In addition, the model shows that the asteroids have acquired pretty early – which correlates with the data of geological analysis. Previously it was assumed that initially Benno and the Ruha had the form of the sphere, and only then deformed.
