Parts of Russian floating nuclear power plants will be built in China

Parts of Russian floating NPPs will be built on Wison shipyard (Nantong) Heavy Industry Co Ltd. In Nantong. The Chinese manufacturer won the competition for the construction of two nuclear power plants for the needs of the Baim Mining and Obbeatsky Combine. The Chinese shipyard proposed the lowest price, reports Kommersant.

Rosatom held a competition only among the Asian shipyards. The winner offered to fulfill the order for $ 226 million. Finished products should be delivered to Russia until February 2024. After that, reactors and turbines on the Russian Baltzavod will be installed in the housing, emphasizes the publication.

According to analysts, the contract was transferred to China for the sake of reducing the cost of the project and compliance with the construction time. So, the cost of the contract is almost a third below the maximum cost of auction, which exceeded the amount of $ 325 million.

In total, the Baimsky plant plan to build four floating power units (PEB) at Rhythm-200 reactors. The power of each PEB will be about 100 megawatt.

In August, Rosatom’s deputy head, Vyacheslav Krusch noted that the Baltzavod was loaded with the construction of four icebreakers, which does not allow additional projects. Nevertheless, the third and fourth PEB corps will be built in Russia.

In July, the company “Roskosmos” proposed to build a nuclear power plant on Mars. It is believed that the station will be able to deliver a nuclear tug “Zeus” in the orbit. After that, the station will relieve the surface of Mars with parachute.
