European Parliament approved a report on “Cold War” with Russia

At the plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg, the report of the Lithuanian deputy Andryus Kubilus on the revision of relations with Russia, which another deputy had previously called a report on the “Cold War” with Russia. This is reported by TASS.

In the document authorities of the European Union, it is recommended to “revise the policy of the European Union against Russia (…) and develop a comprehensive EU strategy against the Russian Federation.” In particular, it is proposed to oppose security threats and Russian intervention in internal affairs, support the democratic society of the country and selective relations with the Kremlin. In addition, it is assumed that the European Union should be ready not to recognize the results of the elections to the State Duma, if violations are revealed.

494 deputies voted for the report, against – 103, 72 abstained.

Announced on September 13, also proposes to consider the suspension of Russia’s membership in international organizations with parliamentary assemblies, if the EU does not recognize the results of Russian elections.
