EU will launch project “Global Gate” to confront Chinese initiatives

The European Union (EU) will launch the Global Gate project to confront the Chinese Initiative “one belt, one way” (China International Project, aimed at improving trade infrastructure, covering more than 60 countries in Central Asia, Europe and Africa). This is reported by Politico with reference to the head of the European Commission (EC) Ursul von der Lyien.

She stated that thanks to the EU project there is a chance to build partnerships with countries around the world. “We need investments in high-quality infrastructure connecting goods, people and services,” she emphasized.

von der Lyien reproached China and noted that “one belt, one way” was created to expand the strategic influence of the PRC through the creation of debt dependence.

“For Europe, it makes no sense to build an ideal way between the Chinese copper mine and the harbor. We must become smarter when it comes to this kind of investment,” the head of the European Commission concluded.

Von De Lyien added that a priority for the European Union during the Regional Summit in February will discuss projects for establishing compounds with Africa.

In June, Clit Willems, a former high-ranking employee of the White House, said that China makes a “rough strategic mistake”, destroying a major investment agreement with the European Union. In his opinion, Beijing in vain joined the sanction confrontation with Brussels and introduced restrictions on European politicians who accused the PRC in repression against Uigurov. Willems noted that the deal with the EU is no longer discussed.

In early March, the NEWLINES INSTITUTE analytical center said that the Chinese authorities violated each of the prohibitions of the UN Convention on the Prevention of the Crime of Genocide and Punishment for Him. What is happening with Muslims-Uigurs and other Muslim minorities in the Sinzian-Uygur region of China can be considered extermination.
