Russia stopped designing a rocket for flights to moon

Russia stopped the technical design of the super heavy rocket for flights to the moon. This was announced by the general director of the Samara Rocket and Space Center (RCC) “Progress” Dmitry Baranov, RIA Novosti reports.

As told by Baranov, work on “Elements of the STK”, which assumed the development of key elements and technologies for creating a cosmic missile complex of the superheavy class, are currently terminated. At the same time, in the future, it can be resumed if the relevant decision will take the Roskosmos State Corporation.

It is noted that the technical design of the rocket for flights to the moon was planned to be completed in October 2021.

In August “Roskosmos” postponed the launch of the mission “Luna-25” for May 2022. This solution is associated with a shortcoming time to prepare the elements of the program.
