Supporters of the referendum on the decriminalization of marijuana in Italy collected 330 thousand signatures in support of such a bill in two days. This is stated in the statement of the authors of the petition in Facebook .
The collection started on September 11, it is carried out through the online platform. To achieve the decriminalization of marijuana, it is necessary to provide 500 thousand signatures to the Supreme Court of Court until September 30.
One of the initiators of the campaign, the chairman of the left party + Europa Riccardo Maji noted: if the Supreme Instant will decide a positive decision, the referendum will be held in spring 2022.
The initiative is aimed at eliminating the article on the cultivation of marijuana and canceled measures related to imprisonment. According to the calculations of the group, in the country about six million cannabis consumers, among them – patients who are unable to get therapy.
In December 2020, the UN Commission on narcotic drugs voted to exclude Cannabis from the list of IV of the Unified Drug Convention 1961 – a list of substances requiring the most rigid control.
