Cows taught to toilet

Researchers from Germany and New Zealand showed that cows can be accustomed to go to the tray. Scientists whose article was published in the journal Current Biology, suggest that this method will help reduce emission emissions ammonia.

These emissions directly do not affect global warming, but falling into the soil, ammonia is processed into nitrogen oxide – the third prevalence of greenhouse gas. In his experiment, the name Mooloo, experts began to reward the meal of those calves that urinated in the toilet. Then they began to be allowed to approach trays in the event of the need. For the same that urination outside the tray is associated with negative sensations, scientists have tried to lose the calves through the headphones in the liners of unpleasant music – however, they did not respond to such stimulation. The proper effect occurs a three-second “souls” from sprinklers.

For several weeks, it was possible to teach 11 of the 16 calves participating in the experiment. According to scientists, they demonstrated a comparable treatment with children. “A few years later, all cows will go to the toilet,” one of the authors of the work, Senior Researcher, the Senior Researcher of the Institute of Biology of Agricultural Animal Association Labitsa Yang Langbein. According to researchers, the collection of 80 percent of the urine cow will lead to a decrease in ammonia emissions by 55 percent.
