China will begin to produce copper in Afghanistan after stabilizing situation

Unstable political and military situation does not allow China to begin developing a copper mine in the east of Afghanistan. This is reported by TASS.

We are talking about the Chinese Corporation Jiangxi Copper, which in 2007 won a tender for the extraction of copper in the Iinak Province of Logar. The Director General of Zheng Gaocin on the online briefing said that the construction of the relevant infrastructure for production will begin, as soon as the situation in Afghanistan stabilizes.

Now the company continues to observe the development of events in Afghanistan. On September 13, it became known about Beijing plans to allocate humanitarian assistance to the people of Afghanistan for $ 31 million, as well as a batch of vaccines against COVID-19 for three million doses. Also, China called on the international community to assist the “Taliban” movement (prohibited in Russia) in the fight against terrorism.

On September 8, the representative of the Taliban said that their organization ruined relations with Uigur terrorists for the sake of establishing relations with Beijing. However, in the Taliban refused to answer if they would give Uigurs if such a request comes from China.

On September 3, the spokesman for the Taliban Zabilella Mujahid called the PRC by the main foreign partner of militants. The representative of Taliban noted the readiness of the Chinese government to invest in Afghanistan’s development. He also expressed the hope that Beijing will support the restoration of the Afghan mining industry.
