European Union called on to expand

Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel during a visit to Belgrade offered to expand the European Union. She called for the Western Balkans to join the EU, RIA Novosti reports.

According to Merkel, it knows about the existing idea of ​​the European integration process: some call it slow, because new requirements appear to potential EU members. However, a number of results and progress are noticeable, she stressed.

“But all EU member countries should keep in mind that there are big geostrategic interest so that all these countries have been adopted in the EU,” the German Chancellor noted.

Earlier, President of Serbia Alexander Vucić said that the country was not ready to join the European Union. In Serbia, they want to resolve the issue of Kosovo and find a compromise in the dialogue.

On September 14-14, Merkel will come with Serbia and Albania visit, where he will meet with the leaders of the two countries, as well as with the leaders of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Northern Macedonia and the self-proclaimed republic of Kosovo.
