Lithuanian parliament mulling to send a permanent representative to US Congress

The deputies of the Lithuanian Parliament wanted to send a permanent representative to the US Congress, reports Err.ee.

According to the new version of the Secretary of State of the Seimas in the European Union, a similar position is provided for in other countries.

“There are national parliaments whose influence on fate and the interests of Lithuania is more likely to even more than the European Parliament. In this case, I’m talking about the US Congress,” said the head of the Foreign Affairs Committee, the former ambassador in the states of Zhigimantas Pavlenice. / P>

He noted that China has about 700 people “work with Congress”, in the UK – 100, Poland is ten. “We have Halfweather – a diplomat who covers many more questions,” the deputy posted.

In the first reading, the proposal was supported by 89 deputies, two were voted.

Earlier, Lithuanian Ambassador to the USA Audra Plepitis called the main threat to the European Union Belarus.
