Russia completely refused imported salmon

Russia no longer needs imported salmon, because it can fully secure himself with this fish, said the head of Rosrybolovy Ilya Shestakov. His words transfers Interfax.

He recalled that Russia previously purchased more than 120 thousand tons of salmon from Norway every year. In 2014, supplies refused, since Moscow introduced food embargo. As a result, the country has increased its production of this fish, which in the last 10 years has doubled.

It is expected that this year up to 329 thousand tons of salmon will be produced. Only for the first half of the year, the production of red fish increased by 20 percent.

The cost of red fish and red caviar in Russia will decline, promised the Shestaks earlier. To increase the consumption of caviar and fish in Russia, you need to deal with “strong marquee” and develop aquaculture, he believes. On the question of the availability of these products, the head of Rosrybolovyov said that the “range is, and the availability primarily depends on the economic possibility of buying a fish.”

In this case, the consumption of fish in the country falls. It is part of the diet of 88 percent of adults in Russia, told the “Russian Gazette” secretary of the Council of the Council of the Fishery Union Garegin Mitin.
