In Union of winemakers rated reports on start of supply of champagne from France

Information that the interprofessional champagney wines committee canceled the suspension of the export of champagne, looks like an attempt to raise noise and is a misunderstanding. This was stated by the President of the Union of Vineyards and winemakers Leonid Popovich in a conversation with a radio station “says Moscow.”

“It didn’t affect anything. Everyone lived completely. Everyone who wanted French champagne, they found him, bought and drank. I call it a big misunderstanding, which happened in people when they read the law,” Popovich said .

According to him, nothing has changed from the moment in Moet Hennessy expressed dissatisfaction with Russian laws and stopped supplies.

Earlier, the French agreed to return champagne to Russia – deliveries will be resumed from September 15. According to the co-chairman of the wines committee, Jean-Marie Barier, suppliers will respect the Russian law.

Problems with deliveries arose after the Russian law made amendments to regulate the turnover of alcohol. They prohibit the use of the term “champagne” against sparkling wines produced outside of Russia. Due to the incident, the shipment stopped 95 percent of trading houses. The champagne wines committee called the changes inadmissible, reminding that the term champagne itself is associated with the historical region in France.
