In the current century in Europe, it is planned to deploy 13 permanent airbases with 450 fighters of the fifth generation F-35 Lightning II, follows from the presentation of the American Corporation Lockheed Martin, presented at the 27th International Exhibition MSPO 2021. According to the map shown in the presentation, in the UK, the Netherlands, Italy, Norway, Belgium and Poland will be two airbases with such fighters, whereas in Denmark – one. Four of 13 objects have already been commissioned. The deadlines for the start of the full work of the other eight airbases are installed. The final decision on the 13th object (near the Polish city of Sadvedin) has not yet been accepted.
On one of the specified bases (leukeneng in the UK), F-35A Lightning II Air Force (Air Force) F-35A Lightning II fighters are located.
In August, Deputy General Director of the Almaz-Antey concern Pavel Crydinov said that American fifth generation fighters F-22 Raptor and F-35 Lightning II can be detected by Russian radar. In the same month, the general director of the RTI System Concern, Yuri Anoshko, said that the Russian controversial station “Container” operates in the range of short waves (long-to-one-hundred meters long), where the stealth effect stops working.
