Russia noted importance of Dialogue with EU on Problem of Drugs because of Afghanistan

Permanent Representative of Russia at the European Union Vladimir Chizhov on the air TV channel “Russia-24” noted the importance of dialogue with the EU on the problem of countering the proliferation of drugs due to the situation in Afghanistan. His words leads TASS.

“In the current situation, the demand for our dialogue with Europe on narcotic issues increases many times,” the diplomat emphasized.

Chizhov expressed the hope that the European Union would consider what was happening in Afghanistan as an additional stimulus to strengthen cooperation with Russia.

The postprared of Russia also noted that the statement by the head of Eurodiplomatia Josep Burlel about the need to prevent the strengthening of Russia and China’s position in Afghanistan after NATO’s care is mistakenly, probably due to the specifics of its ideas. He concluded that the consideration of the situation in terms of geopolitics “often leads to distorted conclusions.”

On August 19, Josep Borrel stated that the EU cannot allow Russia and China to increase influence in Afghanistan. The diplomat also called the fall of the Afghan government and the victory of the Taliban (terrorist movement prohibited in Russia) “disaster and nightmare”.

His words commented on the deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia Alexander Grushko. He noted that the EU has no realism in the assessment of the events. The Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov expressed bewilderment of the fact that after the withdrawal of Western countries from the territory of Afghanistan, these countries continue to consider Kabul as an object of their own policy.
