Russia: change rules for accrual of children’s benefits

Mintrost of Russia is working as a change in the rules for accrualing social benefits on children from three to seven years and paying lonely parents for children from eight to seventeen years. The Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection Olga Batalina told this newspaper “Izvestia”.

innovations imply changes to the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers, according to which the lack of income during pregnancy will not be the cause of refusal to state support. As Batalina explained, if a woman did not work before pregnancy, then during this period it is difficult for her to find a workplace. “There are women who are hard to endure their position, and are forced to temporarily leave their job even before the birth of a child. This is especially true of those who provide services for civil law contracts, performs one-time work,” added Deputy Minister.

Batalina noted that this problem was further aggravated against the background of the coronavirus pandemic. It is noted that changes to the rules for the provision of social benefits will take effect until the end of 2021.

Previously, deputies of the Kurgan Regional Duma were made to the State Duma a bill, according to which it is proposed to prohibit spending children’s benefits for the purchase of cigarettes and alcoholic beverages. In order to control parental costs, deputies from Kurgan offer to transfer benefits for a child to an electronic account – transfers to it will be tracked.
