Cost of treating Russians from Covid-19

The federal fund of compulsory health insurance (FFOMS) called the cost of treating Russians from coronavirus for the state in the second half of 2021, RBC writes. According to the fund estimates, the amount will be 111 billion rubles.

Calculations were made on the basis that in the second half of the year in Russia, about 3.9 million people can be infected with coronavirus. Such predictions previously gave the Accounts Chamber. At the same time, stationary medical care may be required only 20 percent of all sick or 784 thousand people.

For medical assistance to the insured within the framework of the OMS Russians, the Russian Federation in the second half of the year 2021 will additionally need 65.4 billion rubles. Another 60 billion will need other extrabudgetary funds, including the Social Insurance Fund (FSS) – to compensate for wages of ill workers.

A surveyed by the publication Specialists call the scenario voiced by the FFOMS pessimistic and suggest that in reality in the second half of 2021, the statistics of incidence of incidence of coronavirus will be lower.
