Russia agreed with Kazakhstan about countering domestic nationalism

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov spent a telephone conversation with the Kazakhstani Colleague Mukhtar Tleuberdi. This is reported on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Heads of departments discussed the situation in Afghanistan, paying particular attention to its consequences to ensure safety in Central Asia. In their opinion, the first statements and actions of representatives of the “Taliban” radical movement (prohibited in Russia) suggest that the internal problems of the country can be resolved through negotiations with the participation of various political and ethnoconduction groups.

Lavrov and Tleuberdi also touched upon a number of issues of bilateral relations, in particular, cases of discrimination on the national basis and manifestations of household nationalism in Russia and Kazakhstan. Diplomats agreed to counter the precedents of a similar nature.

Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry spoke with the support of Kazakhstan’s intention to deal with the manifestations of national intolerance after publishing videos of “Language Patrols”.

Before that, the deputy head of the administration of the Kazakh president Dauren Abaev called “cave nationalism” actions of activists who conduct similar “checks” in stores and government agencies of the republic and make me apologize to the chamber of Russian-speaking Kazakhstanis. He condemned the action of nationalists and added that their actions would soon receive a “fair assessment of” law enforcement agencies.
